Quartz Countertops

For do-it-yourselfers, quartz countertops have quickly become the new, ultra low maintenance choice versus granite countertops. They are an engineered stone surface made from ground natural quartz, an element found in granite. Even if an accidental spill of oil, grease or acid is left on quartz, it will be virtually undamaged. It is harder and more robust and is less susceptible to scratches and burn marks. It is also heat resistant, but will suffer damage if a hot metal pan is placed directly on it. This can be avoided simply by using trivets or hot-pads under your hot dishes.

Quartz countertops are also food-safe; meaning that there is no chemical or other kind of residue that will transfer from the actual quartz surface to any food placed on it. They have even been certified by the National Sanitation Foundation for use in commercial kitchens.
